I broke my promise. I had a garage sale on Friday...
The spontaneity was good in that the process wasn't drawn out except that I started working at 10pm and stayed up until 4am (thus, the part about being insane). I made $108. $108 profit for 13 hours of work not including the clean up I still have to do(we can't park in our garage and my house is now trashed). Therefore I am returning to my ban on garage sales. Not shopping at them, of course, just having them.
I tried not to be offended by the drive-by's. There weren't too many, but there were the even more painful "walk through's". If I don't want the stuff anymore, I don't know why it would both me that someone else doesn't want it, but it kind of does.
But it was a beautiful day to be outside and I had a great co-worker...
The moral of this story? Maybe it's a good thing, regardless of whether it was worth it or not, that I was at home getting rid of stuff on friday instead of out at garage sales pursuing more of it. But let me say once again...I will never, no never, have a garage sale.
And this time I really mean it.

Now...you just have to keep your promise :) .....he he he he
Too funny...we are planning one last yard sale in Sept.-so, I need some encouragement here!! :) Watch for my post. I'm pretty sure it will sound a lot like yours!
I'll remind you of this, if you remind me...okay?
Never, never another garage sale! It does feel good to have less junk, but so does donating it a church, mission or friend also.
BTW, did Emma find the pink envelop that Madison put in your door yesterday? I hope so.
Just think about all the things you can do with $108!!! You crack me up! And your co-worker is super cute!
Whoa, is that a drumset? I would so have bought that.
The last time I had a garage sale I made about 100 bucks too. SO not worth it. The Lord has greatly blessed the adoption ones we have had tho - about 1K at each one!!
HEY! We had a yard sale THE SAME DAY!! How amazing is that. However, ours has been planned for a month. The new carpet "move in - move out" forced the idea. I feel special knowing we were twinners.
OH MISSY...ours is in 2 weeks and cleaning out is about to KILL me!!! I think after it's over I'm going to say NEVER too!!
I love the way you make me laugh and think all in the same post. Usually you make me cry too thanks for not doing that today.
With a sales girl that cute, I can't believe you didn't make $1008!
I hate the drive-byes too... I haven't done a garage sale since Craig's List was born, just purge as I go. I'm so with you there on the struggle against always wanting- why can't you site the book? sounds like one I should read the first 3 chapters of, get completely overwhelmed by and then put in on the pile next to my bed... waiting for the next garage sale.
well shoot, now i wish i had driven down your street like i almost did that day. (i'll have to tell you why i almost did later) if i had i would've found you and lucy and your garage sale. bummer.
