Emmie's "Polka Dots and Plaid Pajama Party".

Nine squealing girls descended on our house...

Seven giggly girls slept over...

Two incredible nieces made the party a success...

They did make up and hair, not to mention vacuuming, dusting, swiffering, and other lifesavers!
One tired Mommy slept on the love seat in a pike position for half the night in an effort to watch over them. I would have slept on the full size couch that was available had I been in my right mind and not merely collapsing from all the revelry.
It was a fun time...

And educational too. Like how I learned that those candles that spell out "Happy Birthday" are not a very good investment...

Unless you enjoy waiting a half a century to sing "Happy Birthday" and melted wax all over your cake.
I also learned that it's nice to ship the boys off to my sister's on such occasions. I would have had to have drugged poor Tate to make it tolerable for him. I also learned that a baby makes a dance party even more fun...

And I learned, as if I didn't already know, that my husband has got some moves. Bill always graces us with a little song and dance from Miley Cyrus or some such artist just to embarrass Em. This year, he was quite impressive as he sang the chorus to "Party in the USA." Especially impressive since he had never heard the song before. He is SO glad I forgot to video it. But believe me, the sight of him doing "Noddin' my head like 'yeah', movin' my hips like 'yeah'" was worth the price of admission.
It was, indeed, a Party in the USA at our house Friday night. And there's no place else in the world I would have rather been.

Oh bless you, I am not a fan of the sleep over for reasons you know-- way to be a good mom. :)
Sounds like a fun time! I have to admit, I LOVE "Party in the USA"... It gets me boppin'!!
Oh slumber parties. So much fun in theory, so looooong in reality. I can't believe you didn't even get a picture of Bill. Maybe that should be your staff Christmas party theme song so he can do an encore.
Happy Birthday, Emma!!!
Madison had a great time! Thanks for inviting her! She wasn't even crabby on Saturday, but she was very quiet from being tired. That was kind of nice! :)
Are you sure there was NO place you would have rather been? Not even enjoying the testosterone induced potty humor at my house? For example...Tate:"What does the Lied Center make you think of?" Lane:"Poop."(Giggles.) Tate: "O.k. What does poop make you think of?" Lane: "Pee." (More giggles.)You get the idea.
Not only are you a wonderful mom for planning such a fun party, you are a brave one! I am sure I will be doing the same for Madeleine soon enough. :)
I'm in a big birthday month too and don't have a slumber party in me! Way to go mom! I must remember the niece help - I have two amazing nieces who could be quite the helpers for such an event!
