I just realized after reading all your posts these past many months, that your baby boy is named Jack. As you know, we're naming our Ethiopian baby girl, Lucy, and our baby boy (almost 3) is named Jack. DANG...we've got good taste!
So sorry for your sadness. My mom is a cancer survivor, and that was a tough journey for sure. Your mom is right, God's faithfulness will not stop now. He is good ALL the time.
