There is no place like home, indeed, but I must admit Florida is pretty cool too. Here are a couple of things we miss:
The wildlife...

This huge turtle was just strolling along outside where we lived! The kids wanted to keep him but I was too scared that he would give us jungle fever or attack us in the night or something. I fear I'm ruining my kids for nature.
Here's the wildlife at home...

We also miss the scenery...

Palm trees and lush greenery. Tropical flowers. Lakes (though alligator infested). The beach. And, my personal favorite, trees with moss hanging down from them.
Here is the scenery at home:

Goodbye palm trees, hello mounds of laundry and unpacking! After living in a small space, I realize that we have far more than we really need. This is a good time to clear some things out and get more organized. I've noticed that sometimes getting organized can be an idol in my life, albeit an ever-elusive one. I'm reminding myself in this post, that an organized home (and perfectly decorated) home will not ultimately satisfy me. Now, back to the laundry...

I SO understand about coming home and realizing you have more than you need...I do that every year after our KC trip. We stay in a tiny cottage and only have the few things that we'll need for those couple of days - no storage closets full of clothes that don't really fit, cupboards full of dishes that rarely or never get used - and no fridge full of leftovers from a week ago. I always come home and clean like a crazy woman....and then by next year, it seems my house is full of all of that stuff again! :-)
I have a friend who says that as he was looking at the story of the Tower of Babel, he realized that God intentionally causes chaos in our lives. So we go about trying to organize things, and God comes in after us and throws dirt on the carpet.
I would agree with his theory, which is that if we were able to get our lives organized as we really wanted, we would be able to do whatever we wanted. So He follows us around and causes chaos to keep up daily dependent on him.
Enjoy your own chaos, and know that it's from God!
