brothers and sisters

I don't believe an accident of birth makes people sisters or brothers. It makes them siblings, gives them mutuality of parentage. Sisterhood and brotherhood is a condition people have to work at.
~Maya Angelou

yet another kind of work we have going on around here...
.please note: if you think that we are free from strife in our home since i only posted pictures of children doing the work of brotherhood and sisterhood happily, you are laboring under a misapprehension. i just don't find it the most opportune time to say "smile for the camera!" when they near fisticuffs.

also note: if you think i am a oh-so-smart because i used the phrase "laboring under a
misapprehension"; you are indeed, laboring under a misapprehension.
i learned it from Bridget Jones Diary.

Great quote from a great writer with a great point! I think that occasional strife is part of working out brotherhood and sisterhood. But pictures don't lie. Your kids clearly love each other!

I love you Missy:)! You have always been the person I strive to be:)!!! I love your sweet kiddos and all that you are learning from Bridget Jones! You are the best! And you are right about brothers and sisters! When you have *true* ones, it is such a gift!...and trust me they will love rehashing all the things they used to fight about someday! My brother and sister and I crack up over it now:)!

It's good to take pictures of them when they are getting along, that way you can go back and look at them when the fighting inevitably breaks out. LOL

I think you should try taking pictures of them when they're fighting "for the blog". That could be funny!

I have been following your blog for over a year, and I love this post. I too am adopted like Lulu. I longed for a sibling, or better yet a sister or a brother. What a gift. I now have 3 girls and a boy on the way, and well, I am open to more....I love the gift of siblings for each other. Sure, there are fights but looking at your kids growing, I can't wait to watch mine do the same :) THanks for the great entry to the weekend!
