This is happening. It's not a dream. We are going to Ethiopia on July 24th! Our flights are booked. And our sweet Tate gets to go with us. We have been talking and praying about Tate going with us for many months now. I have never seen him so passionate about anything before. We know it is a risk to take an 11 year old on a trip such as this, but we really think this he is supposed to make this journey with us.
So, God willing, 3 Kollars will fly to Ethiopia. And 4 Kollars will return.
As I write this, with joy swelling in my heart, my dear friend is facing surgery tomorrow for breast cancer. My heart is simultaneously joyful and heavy. I am thanking God for His provision in one situation and praying for His healing in another. The joy and the pain, the anticipation and the fear are all mixed together. Isn't that kind of just the way life is? Even still, I am confident of a God who Sees (El Roi) and knows in both the good times and the bad.

Soooo excited for you and thrilled that Tate is accompanying you. If he's a decent traveler, I think it's a pretty low-risk trip (brush teeth with bottled water, spoonful of pepto before every meal, and don't open your mouth in the shower!). It will be an experience he never forgets.

Missy...wow! I am still thinking that we are meant to be friends. We are considering taking our 11 year old daughter with us when we travel. Please let me know how it goes with taking Tate. Our daughter is passionate about us adopting and has such a heart for orphans. I bet it will be life changing for him. I am also planning to sleep with a blanket and send it to our baby. Our three children will go and get a shirt that I have worn sometimes when we are out without them. I really do believe in the "smell" thing. Please leave me a message sometime. I think that we should email each other and become friends. All of the similarities are just weird....probably a God thing. Congratulations on getting travel dates so soon. What a blessing!!

Woohoo!!!!!! I have been out of your loop tending to our spirited Ethiopian one, but am sooo thrilled to hear that you are heading out soon (Rick's b-day!) So glad Tate is going with you. We took all 3 in 2007 and I am so glad we did. Gave them fresh eyes & big hearts. Praying for you as you go!
